CREACTIVE CITIZENSHIP: Myth and Media is a project promoted and cosponsored by the Campania Region by regional Law.
The project is a promotional event of cultural and local traditions (e.g MAIO FESTIVITY ) but it also should be an opportunity of dialogue and meeting between young people from all around the world. Specifically the lead partner of CREATIVE CITIZENSHIP MYTH AND MEDIA is an informal group of young people called "M.A.I.O. Multimedia Arts Irpinian Organism" with the partnership of young Rumanian, Tunisian and Belgian Associations who are very active to promote art and local traditions in their respective countries and a fully conscious participation in the RES PUBLICA by means of the constructions of bridges between different countries. The transnational exchange organized by Creative Citizenship’s project takes place around one of the most important festivity (MAIO festivity) of the local baianese community that is lived as an inevitable event every 25 of December. The festivity becomes an occasion to live again the myth, the scene where the sacred and the profane blend in. The aim of the project indeed is to share and promote the most archaic local traditions in an international dimension through the active participation of the members of the international delegations. They will strongly experience those days and will testify by elaborating artistic works ( e.g pictures, videos, sound recordings ) that will be shown in an itinerant multimedia exposition in their home country. CREATIVE CITIZENSHIP opens to the Irpinian Secondary schools and to the Campania’s artists through the launch of the competition "DESIGN OF TRADITION" with the aim of increasing the reach of the activities of the project and to support/stimulate an original and personal interpretation of autochthonal traditions.
Local tradition becomes very important for the reconsideration of historical heritage and leverage for the revaluation of the territory.
The project will last 4 days on field divided in workshop, performances, thematic meetings and it will be inaugurated by a Conference on the 21th of December at the Art Institute "Paolo Anania de Luca" in Avellino.
Different themes will be discussed in that place :
- The revaluation of local traditions through the perception and the re-interpretation of a young point of view
- The importance of common goods and the defence of territory
- The necessity of the participation of younger or less young people.
Experts and teachers of anthropologic and artistic field, art and history’s student, experts of communication and local development, social activists and institutional representatives will take part in their capacity as reporters.
